How to Access Your NOUN Student Email Address (Gmail)

Every registered NOUN student is assigned an official student email address by the university. Many students — including those who have been at NOUN for years — never activate it and miss important communications as a result.

This guide shows you exactly how to find your NOUN email address, set your password, and access it on Android, iPhone, or a laptop.

What Is Your NOUN Student Email Address?

Your NOUN student email follows this format:

nouXXXXXX@noun.edu.ng

Where XXXXXX is based on your matriculation number. For example, if your matric number is NOU123456789, your email will be something like nou123456789@noun.edu.ng (in lowercase).

To confirm your exact email address: Log in to the NOUN student portal at https://www.nouonline.nou.edu.ng — your student email address is displayed there on your profile/dashboard.

Your Default Password

The first time you log in to activate your student email, your default password is your matriculation number in CAPITAL LETTERS.

Example: if your matric number is NOU123456789, your default password is NOU123456789

After your first successful login, it is strongly recommended that you change your password to something only you know.

Why Your NOUN Student Email Matters

Your student email is the official channel of communication between NOUN and its students. Here is what it is used for:

  • TMA portal login — elearn.nou.edu.ng sends OTP verification codes to your student email when you log in
  • University announcements — exam timetables, academic calendar updates, and policy notices are sent here
  • Facilitation communications — your course facilitators may contact you via this email
  • Support portal access — some NOUN support services require your student email to log in
  • Official correspondence — any formal communication from NOUN administration comes through this address

If you never activate your student email, you will miss OTP codes needed to log into the e-Learn portal to take your TMAs.
