What Is a NOUN Project Proposal Slip?
A project proposal slip is the official form every NOUN undergraduate student must submit before beginning their final-year research project. It documents your chosen project topic, your proposed supervisor, your faculty, and your student details. Without an approved proposal slip, you cannot formally register a supervisor or begin your project work.
The generator above creates a correctly formatted proposal slip as a downloadable PDF. Fill in your details, download the slip, and present it to your Faculty Project Coordinator for approval.
How to Submit Your Project Proposal at NOUN
- 1
Choose a Project Topic
Select a researchable topic relevant to your programme of study. Your topic must be original — not identical to a project already done at your faculty. Discuss with your intended supervisor before settling on a title.
- 2
Generate Your Proposal Slip
Use the generator above to fill in your matric number, name, faculty, department, programme, project title, and preferred supervisor name.
- 3
Download and Print
Download the generated PDF and print two copies — one for your records and one to submit to your Faculty Project Coordinator.
- 4
Submit to Your Study Centre / Faculty Office
Take the printed slip to your study centre or faculty office. Your proposed supervisor must sign the slip before it is processed.
- 5
Receive Approval and Begin Research
Once approved, you are formally registered for your project. You may now begin your research, literature review, and data collection under your supervisor's guidance.
Tips for Choosing a Good NOUN Project Topic
Pick a Specific, Narrow Topic
Broad topics are hard to research properly in the time available. Instead of 'Effect of Technology on Education', try 'Effect of Mobile Learning on Academic Performance of NOUN Students in Lagos'.
Choose Something You Can Research Locally
Since NOUN students often research part-time, pick a topic where you can collect data from your immediate environment — workplace, community, or local institutions.
Check for Available Literature
Before committing, search Google Scholar for at least 5 peer-reviewed papers on your topic area. If you find none, the topic may be too narrow or obscure.
Confirm Supervisor Availability
Before submitting your slip, contact your proposed supervisor to confirm they are available and willing to supervise your specific topic area.
